Engineering & Design
The Engineering Design Services team acts as the bridge between a customer's design and a manufacturable product. They review, adjust, and optimize designs to ensure they can be reliably produced in a fast paced, custom manufacturing environment.
Explore Open Positions →The work is highly task driven and fast moving. Each day, team members pull jobs from a queue and move through a variety of responsibilities such as reviewing 3D models, making design adjustments, communicating with customers or internal teams, and preparing finalized files for production. They also analyze non conformances to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Over the course of a week, the team balances high volume quick turn approvals with more complex design challenges, while also contributing to internal improvements such as automation, standards, and tooling. The role requires both speed and technical depth, as some tasks take only minutes while others require careful engineering judgment.
Design Meets Manufacturing Reality
Much of the work involves solving problems related to manufacturability and design clarity. This can include features placed too close to bends or edges, tolerance challenges, unclear design intent, or parts that are technically correct in design software but difficult or inefficient to produce. The team is constantly translating between what was designed and what can realistically be built in a production environment.
Why Engineering Design Matters
Engineering Design Services plays a critical role in maintaining both speed and quality across the company. By identifying and resolving issues early, the team prevents manufacturing problems before they happen, reduces rework, and keeps production running efficiently. In many ways, they protect the production floor from poor inputs while helping customers succeed with their designs.
"Every design decision is approached as a tradeoff, with the goal of finding the simplest solution that meets all requirements."
The team often guides customers toward small design changes that reduce complexity, improve manufacturability, and lower cost without impacting performance. They also track performance metrics closely and continuously look for opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
Technical Depth & Speed
Some tasks take minutes, others require careful engineering judgment — the role demands both speed and precision at high volume.
Automation & Standards
Beyond individual jobs, the team contributes to internal improvements — automation, standards, and tooling that make the whole system more efficient.
Customer & Internal Partnership
By connecting customer needs with engineering and manufacturing realities, the team ensures every project is set up for success from the start.
Turn Designs Into Manufacturable Reality
Success on this team comes from a strong balance of technical understanding and practical execution — attention to detail, efficiency at high volume, and a problem-solving mindset. If that describes you, we would love to hear from you.
